People will do some pretty interesting things to look younger, feel younger, and to live longer - myself included. As we age, it's only natural that we want to look and feel our best. So it's easy to buy into the promise of eternal youth - whether it's a product, a treatment, or some magic elixir - and it can get downright confusing to separate fact from fiction.

So, I'm thrilled to speak with journalist Bill Gifford. His New York Times bestselling book, Spring Chicken: Stay Young Forever (or Die Trying), is a fascinating read. Bill reveals why some people live to be 100 without even trying, how your fat tissue could be killing you, and how to heal your DNA back to a younger version of itself. To research the book, he talked to scientists as well as everyday body hackers who were working on discovering how to reverse the effects of aging.

Two years into Kathy’s television first show, something started happening with one of her eyes. Doctors were not sure what the issue was - bacteria? Some sort of infection? A clogged tear duct? Finally, a doctor at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA diagnosed Kathy with Graves Disease, a condition which was attacking her thyroid gland. This experience jumpstarted Kathy’s lifelong journey to understanding the remarkable thyroid and adrenal glands.

Today’s guest is Dr. Alan Christianson, New York Times best-selling author and naturopathic medical doctor (NMD) with a focus on thyroid disorders. He founded Integrative Health, a physician group dedicated to helping people with thyroid disease, and is the author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Thyroid Disease and The Adrenal Reset Diet: Strategically Cycle Carbs and Proteins to Lose Weight, Balance Hormones, and Move from Stressed to Thriving.

In my 35 years of being in the health and wellness business, I’ve experienced a lot of strategies for staying healthy and living longer. But none more convincing that what we’re going to be talking about today.

Today’s guest, Professor Valter Longo, is going to talk to us about the latest findings related to FMD - Fasting Mimicking Diets.

It appears that by periodically adopting a diet that mimics the effects of fasting may yield a host of positive effects on aging, organ function, and weight management.

Professor Valter Longo is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on prolongation of lifespan and longevity. His work and discoveries are labelled as some of the greatest achievements in science. He directs a laboratory of twenty researchers at the Andrus Gerontology Center, one of the oldest and leading centers for research on aging and age-related diseases in the country.

For over 20 years, he's been studying the complex mechanisms which control aging. He’s an award-winning researcher, gerontology and biological sciences professor and director of the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California. You can find out more about Fasting Mimicking Diets at www.l-nutra.com.
